Wow, I didn't think it would be this bad. Unit emits a high pitched whine when powered on, which could be lived with, except that this whine makes its way in to the recorded videos. Supposedly records at 640x480 or 720x480, but both settings produce the same size and aspect ratio file. When panning left to right, the image appears to wobble. Is this the "rolling shutter" effect CMOS sensors are famous for? Pan across a city skyline and it appears that the buildings are made of jello. The batteries are also standard AAA, not a rechargeable pack. This could be a plus I guess, but it does not come with a charger or any external power options, although there are three generic Chinese batteries in the packaging so it could be used directly out of the box.
On the plus side, it does work, it will record video. The TV A/V Output works fine, and the files are recorded in AVI format to the SD card. Video is an Motion JPEG at an odd 27 frames per second, with audio being 22khz. It also has a tripod mount. Yey!
