Sony MHC-GX9000 Compact Stereo with 3-CD Changer and Game Sync Review

I just received this stereo in the post office and took a 2 hour lunch break just to hook it up and play with it! This thing is way too big for my dorm room so i'm going to have to make some room the best I can. After hearing everyone elses systems pound I thought I would get something that could beat the competition and it absolutely blows it away. This 4 speaker setup is awesome. The only thing that would make it even better would be a center channel speaker. Unfortunately 1 is not included so there isnt full 5.1 but the 2 main speakers and 2 rear speakers are so loud that it doesn't matter. Halo 2 sounds unbelievable as well as other games. I'm gonig to replay Halo 2 on Legendary just so I can hear what it really sounds like! So long to the crappy tv speakers!

Panasonic SC-PM19S 5-CD Shelf System (Silver) Review

Panasonic SC-PM19S 5-CD Shelf System (Silver)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received this as a Christmas gift and I have been very happy with it thus far. The sound is very good and will get louder than I would ever want to play it; all without any distortion. The controls are straight forward and easy to use as is the remote. The radio has great reception on both AM & FM.
It appears to be very well constructed which is what I have come to expect from Panasonic. They always do a good job at providing a quality product. I have electric razors, juicers, air purifiers and other items made by them and I am always happy with my purchases. I especially like the fact that it has soft footpads on the bottom of the main unit and speakers. This allows me to place it directly on my dresser without having to worry about it scuffing the finish.
Some have commented on the CD changer being noisy and I agree with this. It does seem to be a minor tradeoff but I do not know how they could make it more quiet and keep the price where it is. I was also suprised that there are no controls to adjust the bass & treble. Panasonic gets around this by providing several pre-selected sound modes. I find that they did a pretty good job at this and the auto-enhanced setting sounds just the way I would like it to.
Pros:
Fantastic sound
Speakers that can handle all of the power
Easy to use controls
Soft footpads
Easy to use remote
Good radio reception
Quality construction
Attractive
Cons:
Loud CD changer
Slow CD changer
No separate bass, treble adjustments
Overall - I think anyone would be happy with this unit.

Panasonic's SC-PM19S executive microsystem offers style and power, housing 70 watts per channel in its sleek, wood-and-silver casing. The SC-PM19S includes a single-well cassette recorder and a five-CD changer with Panasonic's exclusive MASH (multi-stage noise shaping technology) 1-bit digital-to-analog converter for clear, accurate sound reproduction. And the system plays not only prerecorded CDs but home-brewed CD-Rs and CD-RWs, and it's compatible with MP3 digital audio files. It's also available in a silver/black finish.
To ensure powerful, clear, and virtually distortion-free audio, the system features a bi-amplified, biwired configuration, which splits the amplifier's labor to independently power each speaker driver for more efficient power usage. Super Sound EQ boosts the low, medium, and high frequencies at the touch of a button, and four preset equalizer curves are also included.
Other features include a drift-free, digital-synthesized tuner with 30-station (15 FM, 15 AM) presets, TPS (Tape Program Sensor, which lets you search forward or backward across up to nine cassette songs), detachable speaker grilles (in case you prefer the look of naked tweeters and woofers), and a multifunction remote control.
What's in the Box Panasonic SC-PM19S shelf system, remote control, 2 AA batteries, and printed operating instructions.

Sony MHC-MG510AV Compact Stereo System Review

Sony MHC-MG510AV Compact Stereo System
Average Reviews:

The main reason I bought this item was for its 60+1 cd changer and over 330 watts of pure 5.1 dolby digital dvd-experience bliss. It really seems as though you are getting movie theater-quality surround sound. The system itself is sleek and has a techno-look. The subwoofer bass is also impressive, while the keyboard connection is great for sorting your cd connection.
Although there is no s-video connection, the wiring is a little short, and some of the interface is confusing, this is a great system for any game player or avid movie watcher.

Yamaha TSX-140 Desktop Audio System with iPod Dock (Brick) Review

Yamaha TSX-140 Desktop Audio System with iPod Dock (Brick)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let me start by saying, I'm a music producer that
enjoys a variety of different genres of music, so
when shopping for a stereo system I need for
the unit to be able to have all genres of music
sounding good.
I tested the unit by bringing my phone (with mp3s)
to the store I bought it from and played a few
songs. I could tell right away this stereo was
REALLY good. If you like way your music sounds on
a Bose, then you'll like the TSX-140. It really
sounds great, whether you're playing pop, easy-
listening and even sounds great when playing dance
music.
In addition to the unit being able to play audio
via AUX, I also wanted a CD player and USB input.
This box does it all!~ So, I was pretty much sold~
I actually paid more than Amazon is selling it for,
but I'd buy it all over again. To me, it's that good.
But don't take my word for it, go have a listen for
yourself~ I think you'll be shocked at the vividness
of the music you've been listening to all this time!

Denon DM38S Micro AM/FM, CD System Featuring USB Input and iPod/iPhone Connectivity Review

Denon DM38S Micro AM/FM, CD System Featuring USB Input and iPod/iPhone Connectivity
Average Reviews:

I wanted a bookshelf system for my kitchen with CD player, decent radio, and iPod and auxiliary inputs. The DM-38 delivers all this with a striking elegance of design that makes my engineer heart happy just to look at it. I like it so much that I'm ordering a second unit for my office.
There's no need to buy an iPod dock. I connect my iPod Touch 32G (third generation) to the USB port. I can operate the iPod in either of two modes. Normally I control it by tapping on its screen as usual, calling up apps and playing music. I can, for example, run the NPR News app, sending the audio over the USB cable. That's a win because the digital signal is converted to analog inside the DM-38, which does a much better job than the iPod.
Or I can press the "browser" button on the DM-38 remote. Now the iPod goes into "accessory connected" mode and I can control the music player with the remote -- start/stop/pause and forward/reverse work. The two-line display on the DM-38 shows the song info.
Here's why I didn't go all the way to five stars:
*) No HD radio. None of the competition has HD either, but still ... the British version of this product handles digital radio, why doesn't the American?
*) No support for RDS, the metadata in the radio signal. My car radio can tell me what station I'm listening to and the name of the current track, but the DM-38 cannot. There's a "DAB/RDS" button on the remote that does nothing.
*) When playing MP3 files from a USB storage device (like a flash drive), the DM-38 doesn't sort by the track number meta-information in the files. Instead, it uses the order in which the files appear in the directory. This means that the only way to get the correct playlist order is to format the USB device and then carefully copy in the files in track order. Portable MP3 players don't have this silly limitation.
*) No option to leave the USB port hot when the stereo is turned off. This means I have to unplug the iPod from the stereo and connect it to a separate charger to keep the battery full. And no, you can't put a self-powered USB hub in the circuit; the DM-38 doesn't work with hubs.

Sony LBT-ZX99i 5-Disc CD Changer Mini Shelf System with Play Exchange Review

Sony LBT-ZX99i 5-Disc CD Changer Mini Shelf System with Play Exchange
Average Reviews:

Very good sound for a "Mini Shelf" system but then, it is not very small so make sure you have room and able to hold 146 pounds. The Bass boost is in deed heavy bass and vibrates things (probably too good for late hours in most places). Sound is still pretty good without bass boost with a little extra volume. I think Sony needs to make a half bass boost which probably would be the best sound on many occassions.
Like the Ipod input for my use and also so friends caneasily bring and play music they like. It looks "cool" but not sophistcated, Not the greatest sound
but it is good and for the price, I have no regrets.

Not much to say except this system is beautiful. I just set it up and turned it two half volume and it got my floors (literally) shaking. The bass is absolutely tremendous. It's really rich and deep. Definitely good for my techno.
I turned on some rock too and the other speakers pick up just as well. I'm am 100% satisfied.
The seller also shipped it to me within 3 business days. I was surprised it came today. I was expecting it later this week.
