I have had this product for 5 months & am very satisfied with it. I swim laps almost every day with it. I purchased the original Dolphin & still have it but prefer the Lite since it eliminates all the loose wires. It would be nice to have a shuffle feature but I keep a music playlist on my PC & change it around periodically, then download the new playlist version to the Dolphin. Since I use Windows Media Player, my music files are in WMA format. The Dolphin doesn't have any problems with that format but can't play Apple's proprietary iTunes music format as someone else noted. They need to be converted to MP3 or WMA.
Yes, the user manual had misspelled words & broken English, but so do many other items that come from overseas, especially the Pacific Rim. That's not a reflection on the quality of the engineering per se. I wish all of the foreign-generated user manuals were clear & easy to read, but they all seem to be an after-thought.
Two points I want to pass along. As far as plugging into the PC, you must use an adequately powered USB port for it to work. When I plug it into my PC's USB port, the PC doesn't recognize it & it causes an error. So I use an external, powered USB Hub & it works fine. I assume the device must draw a lot of power when charging. Newer PCs with the latest USB 2.0 ports most likely won't have this problem
Also, several users have down-graded both the Dolphin & the Dolphin Lite due to the ear phones not working - stopped working, static, low volume, etc. On both of my units this happened to me. I even ordered a replacement earphone set thinking the originals had gone bad. But one day I decided to see if the connection plug was making good contact inside. I used a wet/dry towelette to wipe the end of the earphone plug & inserted a Q-tip dipped in alcohol into the jack itself to clean it. Lo & behold, the earphones worked like they were brand new. So now, once a week, I clean the jack & tip with alcohol & have had no problems since. My guess is that the pool water is causing corrosion to build up over time on the jack & pin but something else could also be the source. I rinse my unit & earphones off after swimming to remove the chlorine film & the rinse water could have a lot of minerals in it. But whatever the source of the corrosion, cleaning the unit as described above works. Hope this was helpful.
