Couldn't be more pleased with this rig. Installed in my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 when my OEM stereo quit working. Installation was simple with a Metra wiring harness. Hardest part was removing existing amplifier behind the glove compartment. Hint: simply attach the parking brake lead to any ground to bypass the DVD view lockout. Great intuitive GUI. Superb sound.

I found the setup and downloading of latest maps a user friendly attribute of Garmin. Most of the time, it routes you to the selected address OK, but sometimes it directs you to the wrong address and the route sometimes does not make good sense. In one case, a road must be used to get loads to and from a Sumner, WA address, but the road is listed as not for trucks.Garmin 010-00786-01 nuvi 465LMT Navigator

Onkyo HT-S990THX 7.1 THX Home Theater Entertainment System Review

Onkyo HT-S990THX 7.1 THX Home Theater Entertainment System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this product about 3 weeks ago, and have now come to fully experience what it can do. It is a wonderful piece of equipment that is worth the money.
Pros:
The system is cost effective. For the money, you get a very good system. Sure, it's not as good as one that costs several thousand dollars, but it's much better than the standard HTIB you can find at a retail store. Remember, you always get what you pay for. If you want a cheap system that will need to be replaced often, this system is not for you. However, if you are like me and are just looking for a good system that's not going to break the bank, consider this as one of your options.
The system is also easy to set up. It comes with color coded wires and connections. The back of the receiver has all speaker connections color coded, and the colors match the wires and speaker terminals. Also, unlike most HTIB systems, the surround wires are long enough to support the room size this system was designed for. Remember, this is not a THX Select or Ultra system. It's not designed to play in large spaces (Select is for 2000 cubic feet, a 250 square foot room with an 8 foot ceiling; Ultra is for 3000+ cubic feet, about a 375 square foot room with an 8 foot ceiling). This system is designed for a smaller room (such as an apartment or small home). My living room is about 170 square feet (I live in an apartment).
The system is also easy to use. Just a glance at the user's manual will let you navigate through the configuration menu with no problems. Unlike other HTIB systems I have seen, the speaker distance is fully configurable, in standard or metric units. Other systems I have seen do not understand that your front speakers might be closer than your rear speakers. Instead, they would assume that this could not be possible, so if your application called for a front speaker distance of 7 feet, and a rear speaker distance of 10 feet, the receiver could not configure it. Therefore, the system did not sound correct unless you rearranged the room, or knock down walls. This system allows you to input any variation of measurements, but it's always in feet or meters. For once, I would like to see a system that had precise control of the delay, to the inch. 6 inches difference is about 0.5 milliseconds. Even though it's a small number, it seems as if the front soundstage is drastically different with differences as small as an inch between the FL/FR and center channels.
Cons:
Receiver does not support HDMI. This is both a pro and a con. First, I priced a Monster HDMI cable. There was one cable at Best Buy for $80. The good stuff started at $120. I didn't even look for anything THX certified. On the other hand, you can get a THX certified Component Video set for about $40, and a THX certified optical audio cable for about $38. From other reviews I have read, there is no noticeable difference between using HDMI and component connections.
Another con is that THX specifications call for a dipole side surround speaker, where as this system comes with a monopole side surround speaker. The side surrounds appear to be the exact same as the back surrounds. THX calls for monopole back surrounds and dipole side surrounds. This can make a difference in how enveloping the surround information is. Even though this system has monopole side surrounds, the surround effect is enveloping, but I've seen $10,000 setups that sounded much better. And this system doesn't cost $10,000 does it?
Yet another con has to do with the crossover point of the system. Ideally, you want all frequencies to blend together properly. In my setup, when using the THX demo disk, I notice a slight dip in bass output when transitioning from the main speakers to the subwoofer, then the subwoofer picks up the volume to normal as the frequency decreases. Now I'm sure I could compensate for this by spending thousands of dollars treating my room structures, purchasing equalizers, and moving the subwoofer around...but I don't want to do that...and probably neither do you. The system does not give perfectly flat response, but is withing 6 dB all the way through the transition. Also, the subwoofer is not the best suited for music. I cannot tell what class box is used (I don't want to take it apart), but it lacks the impact of a sealed box, and acts more like a vented or bandpass box. It delivers a rumbling impact when watching movies, but lacks accuracy for music reproduction. It seems as if there is a very sharp curve as the frequency gets lower, similar to a bandpass box. Listen for yourself and see what you think. Be sure to use music that has various bass frequencies.
Overall, I say this is a 4 out of 5. For those of you that want a dedicated movie theater in your house, this system is probably too small for you. For the rest of us, this is a great solution. It's an entry level high end home theater system, and the best HTIB on the market today. If you are considering going with something cheaper, consider this: This system comes with everything you need to play every audio format widely used today. It does both Dolby Digital and DTS, and adds THX to both standards (you can also listen in the native format being broadcast, with no THX). You can play this system in 2.1, 5.1, 6.1, and 7.1 configurations, and comes with everything necessary to matrix stereo signals into all configurations, as well as matrix 5.1 signals into 6.1 or 7.1. Basically, it's a one-stop-shop. It's one system, in one box, that plays everything. I think that's why it was designed. Maybe more consumers buy HTIB systems rather than seperate components. As far as value, I'm sure if you shop around, you might find a better seperate component system for the same money, or close to it. But what does the average consumer want? Simplicity. This one word best describes this system. Given proper speaker and seating arangements, the system does exactly what it was designed to do, yet it's simple. And what was it designed to do? Bring the movie theater experience to your living room. It does that, without any problems.

The HT-S990THX is the first system to meet the parameters set by THX for overall system performance as opposed to separate loudspeaker and amplifier performance. In effect, the HT-S990THX represents a high-performance, powerful multichannel solution that combines the convenience of all-in-one systems with the performance of much higher priced separate components. With full THX processing capabilities-- THX ASA-derived playback modes (THX Cinema2, THX Music Mode, THX Games Mode)--you can be assured that this system brings out the full potential of surround sound for all entertainment options. Equally as important, Onkyo's Wide Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT) gives the system a perfect base for stellar amplifier performance. Also, the HT-S990THX's compatibility with XM Satellite Radio and the iPod offers a completeness to this home entertainment system that has rarely been seen before.

Sennheiser RS 140 Wireless HiFi Headphone with Dynamic Compression System Review

Sennheiser RS 140 Wireless HiFi Headphone with Dynamic Compression System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Audio choices are obviously very personal, so I hesitate to recommend anything too strongly here. Tastes and tolerances differ so greatly, and wireless audio products really seem to push those differences. Maybe some of my needs and wants will match yours, maybe not, but please consider my thoughts here in light of the many personal qualifiers that I add. Those qualifiers may or may not relate well to your own situation. By the way, my apologies in advance for such a long review, but I really appreciate details when researching audio gear. I thought you might, too.
BACKGROUND
I'm about as picky as they come when sound is the issue. I have a small home recording studio and 30 years of experience as a semi-pro musician (jazz, rock, classical, country). That said, I approach every musical equipment purchase with thorough research and comparison. Since I already have good wired phones (Senn 280s, Audio Technica M50s, and others) in my studio, I wanted some wireless cans mostly for moving around the house and yard while listening to music from my home stereo system, kind of a self-indulgent luxury. I've read enough to know that any wireless models using a radio signal (the best type of signal if you'll be in a different room than the transmitter) will produce some hiss and pop on occasion. I accepted this fact before buying. Still, I decided I would not accept something else: poor sound quality, in a musical sense. Two of the sub-$200 phones with rather consistently high reviews (in magazines and online) were the Senn 130 and 140 models. So I ordered both models to compare them in the privacy of my home. (I paid about $115 for the RS-130 and $135 for the RS-140; be patient because the prices here fluctuate often.)
TEST EQUIPMENT
A 100-watt/channel JVC receiver and JVC CD player--both typical (low-end) home stereo components. To suit my personal tastes for EQ, I boosted some at 16 kHz (to add air to the highs) and at 60 Hz (to add depth to the lows).
FOR MUSIC NOT TV
I've used these cans mostly for listening to music, which usually masks any low-grade background noise. TV use, with its emphasis on dialogue, would be demanding in other ways, so I'd defer to other reviewers for feedback concerning that application.
POINT OF REFERENCE
The entry-level price for a decent set of wired (corded) cans is roughly $100. The price of these wireless Senns, especially the 130s, isn't much more.
LIKES
Musically, both models sound as good as I'd hoped except for their shy response at the extremes (see Test Equipment above). Still, when I've been wearing them while working outside, I sometimes have to stop what I'm doing, raise the volume, and just listen for a while. They sound that good. I wouldn't use them in my studio, but considering the low price and mobility, I'm very satisfied. As I'd read, the open-back 130s sound (and look) a bit like Senn's popular 580 audiophile (wired) model--open, smooth, warm, and most of all, pretty well balanced. The closed-back 140s have a similar sound, maybe a bit boxier, overall, as is typical of closed cans. I think that some folks (such as heavy rock n' rollers, rappers, computer gamers, the hearing impaired, and even office workers) might prefer the 140s for their enhanced isolation, but I found the 130s, which offer the spacious open-back sound that made Senn famous, to provide the flatest, truest sound, overall. After a lot of back and forth listening to verify my impressions, I kept the 130s. The 140s would be a perfectly acceptable alternative, though. The differences are minor.
Both models are cushy comfortable, and the features and controls are top-notch. I've never liked surround-sound simulations and the like, so I can't comment on that feature (130s). But I find everything very simple to use, and all works fine. Like easy? Hang these Senns up and they turn off and charge automatically. Press a button and they tune their reception and then memorize it, also automatically. The reception's very good, too, after I improved it significantly by moving the transmitter unit to a slightly higher shelf and trying the different freq-channel options. Remember this if you buy. Also remember to boost the source volume plenty so that the phones receive a strong signal. (By the way, I've read that you may experience greater interference noise if you live in a congested area, which I don't.)
DISLIKES
No review would be complete without some criticism and warning, so here's mine. Above all, choosing musical equipment involves personal tastes, which vary greatly, so try to listen before buying. Trust your own ears. If you do buy either Senn wireless model, you should expect some hiss and pop and hum at times, usually just when you move around, but almost certainly if you head outside or into another room far from the base unit. (The stated spec of "up to 150 meters" seems laughable.) You may even notice the sound strengthen and weaken on occasion. In this price range, at least, I think you'll need to accept such reception problems or else stay with wired cans. Period. Wireless freedom is never perfect, is it? Beyond that, I wish these cans were as snug-fitting as my Senn 280s, which grip my head tightly. These wireless phones are like light pillows, very comfortable since they sit 'around' the ears (not 'on' the ears), but I'd bet that some folks with smaller heads could find them to be a bit loose when walking around. And finally, another obvious point--bad or good, depending on your situation--is that the 130s (which I prefer in terms of smoother, truer sound) are open-air cans, meaning that you'll hear your family if in the same room. That's good for staying in contact but bad if you want to get away from outside noise. The closed 140s are certainly better for blocking out a barking dog or not disturbing a nearby loved one.
COMMENT ABOUT INTERFERENCE PROBLEMS
If you're not already totally sick of me, you can check out my reaction to the interference problems that some users report here. (Click on 'Comments' below.)
OVERALL
All in all, both models of these phones admirably meet my picky expectations although being realistic about the limits of low-cost wireless sound was a necessary starting point. Nah, these wireless phones aren't perfect, and they're certainly no match for good wired cans, but I think they offer impressive overall performance for $100 plus change. An enthusiastic '4 and a 1/2 stars' and a lot of brag from me. Well done, Senn. Happy listening, all.
P.S. TO ANYONE WITH HEARING LOSS
If you have reduced hearing, particularly in one ear, you should probably choose the RS-140 model. The addition of the closed back (for isolation), L-R balance control, and compression switch (to equalize the overall volume) could be helpful.
NEED MORE RESEARCH?
Head over to "Consumer Search" online for a master summary of pro and consumer reviews of wireless headphones, including these. (The Senns do very well.)
UPDATE
A quick 2009 update, more than three years of almost daily use later: no surprises, no regrets, and the original batteries are still kicking. I stand by my review fully. I did find one time that the headphones didn't work, but a quick jiggle of the audio input in the base unit brought them back to life. True, as some folks have noted, there is indeed annoying interference at times but usually just when moving around in another room or outdoors. That's only a minor limitation for me but clearly a deal-breaker for some people (although some of them, I suspect, haven't boosted the source volume enough). But the surprisingly good music quality and thoughtful design at this low price point is the real story here for me and my primarily musical needs. If you eventually decide to give the Senns a try, just be sure that you can easily return them if they don't fit your own needs and limits. I typically return about half of the audio equipment I buy, even after thorough research, and have learned the value of a simple return policy. Good luck to you.
DISCLAIMER (SUMMER 2010)
I notice that the price has nearly doubled since I wrote my review, and that would change things for me. If I had this much to spend on wireless cans, I'd likely opt for Senn's new RS-180 model instead.

I normally don't write reviews - but I saw this listing and just had an experience with the 441 so I thought - what the heck...
I've had my 441 for 20+ years and have used it on and off over the years in a variety of applications. But just last week I was having trouble getting a sound I wanted from a floor tom. After trying 4 or 5 mics that should have done the job but didn't, I pulled out the 441 and put it up - and it was great - really clear, focused, and a nice full tonality that included great stick definition on the head. Also, minimal bleed from the other drums. The next day I had a male "screamer" type kid in the studio. I don't get a lot of these types of clients, but I've been using a Shure SM7 lately on this type of voice and getting a good sound. I saw the 441 still on the tom from the day before and thought I'd give it a shot, just to see. I was really amazed at how much better the track sounded. Really much clearer - and with a whole lot more thickness - not mud or hype - just a clean thick sound that held up really well to the high SPL and didn't require any eq.
Like everyone else, I've ended up with a variety of mics over time. Until last week I forgot how much I liked the 441 - and just how versatile it is. Lesson learned, I shouldn't get too comfortable with the way I do things.
When I bought the 441 20 years ago (about $500 if I remember correctly) I was recording to 1/2" tape and thought it sounded great. The amazing thing is that now that we record digitally, it sounds better to me than it did then - and better than a lot of other newer mics I have.
I still get excited about new mics and will try and add some new tube and ribbon mics. And $800 can buy a lot of good mics today. But this dynamic is still something special. Bottom line is - if anything happened to my 441, I'd replace it.

Yamaha YSP-5100BL Digital Sound Projector(Black) Review

Yamaha YSP-5100BL Digital Sound Projector(Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I chose the Yamaha Sound Projector to provide top quality sound without all the wires and speakers that come with typical home theater systems. I had heard sound bars before and really wasn't all that impressed so I took a chance and ordered the Yamaha YSP for its claimed ability to provide surround sound without all the set up and install headaches.
First at nearly 9 inches tall and loaded with countless speakers this unit is physically very impressive. Installing it was a breeze and quite frankly is the reason I purchased it. Simply position it near your TV hook up your home theater components and away you go. No troublesome wiring, and decisions on where to place your satellite speakers. The 5100 comes with wireless controllers for both a subwoofer and an iPod and these I both use and found to work as advertised. Additionally, the system comes with a tuning mic that you can use to set up the system to recreate the surround sound effects. Again this works as advertised and was very simple to complete. Since the unit relies on reflecting sound off of objects like walls to create the surround sound effect placement of your TV and where you sit do have implications, but no more than any other home theater system. There will always be a sweet spot for listening, but I found the YSP provided a solid listening experience in and around that sweet spot.
The sound quality you get from this unit is superb. Leagues better than any sound bar I have ever heard. Adding the subwoofer as an option makes the system top flight. The best part about this system is that it adapts so well to music, movies, news programs, and sports. I have heard some sound systems that do not adapt very well and make certain types of content sound strange. Not so with the YSP.It has a strong central speaker sound that provides what I believe is good orientation when listening to various types of content. The surround capabilities when matched with content that can take advantage of it is as good as any theater experience I have had and that says a lot.
I wanted a home theater system that provided top shelf sound without all the hassle and distraction of setting up multiple speakers and I can say that I found it in the YSP. As far as I am concerned this is the flagship that all home theater systems should be compared against.

This reciever is incredible. I am running Bowers and Wilkins (B&W) 600 series speakers with it, and it sounds amazing. You hear incredible clarity. I had an older model that the HDMI port stopped working on, and I sent it back to HK and they shipped me this model which is quite a bit nicer than the old model I had.
The video quality on this is quite nice-- I run all my video sources into the receiver with HDMI (xbox 360, PC, blu-ray, dish/tivo) and run one HDMI cable to the TV. But... you should buy this reciever for the SOUND. It does have 7.1 but nothing really uses this format, so the extra $500 or so on those 2 extra speakers isn't worth it IMHO. It also has a second zone, which I'm using for speakers that are wired to my patio.
I ordered a second unit (the 2600 model) for an additional living room. If you have small (bookshelf) speakers consider the 2600 model-- the 3600 model is great for tower speakers. It puts out plenty of power, the HK receivers are high-current, so 85 watts in an HK is way more than 100 watts in a Sony. The sound clarity is excellent, and I recommend pairing it with high-quality speakers (B&W 600 or CM series are an excellent choice).

I researched bookshelf speakers for two months. I wanted a speaker that would fill the room with clean, rich sound for all types of music, especially jazz, classical, bluegrass, and rock. Everything sounds great on these speakers. I had Boston Acoustic floor speakers. I still love the the BAs, but I have not lost anything with the Polk and I have gained space. The speakers sit on top of a bookcase, about 6' off the ground, in a 14' x 14' room. I could not be happier.

Kanto SYD5RED SYD 5 iPod Speaker System (Bold Imperial Red) Review

Kanto SYD5RED SYD 5 iPod Speaker System (Bold Imperial Red)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My wife likes to listen to music in her studio, but didn't want something too obtrusive. Her studio can get noisy (glass lampwork) so she needed something with some power, but still able to faithfully reproduce sound quality, especially during quiet times. I bought her the Kanto Syd-5 for Christmas and she LOVES it. The cabinet is beautiful and if there's not an iPod docked on top, you don't notice it on the bookshelf it rests on. I read that the cabinet is made with the same finish they use for high-end pianos, and I believe it.
PROS: Super sound quality, plenty of bass, and plenty of power if you want to crank it up. I tried hooking it up to a 32" LCD TV via the S-video, and while it wasn't HD, it was pretty good. You could pair it with a flat screen and maybe a DVD player and have a pretty decent home theater. The remote is OK and lets you adjust treble/mid-range/bass.
CONS: Not many, but this is one heavy unit (25+ lbs). You won't want to move it around too much. We have the black finish, and while it's beautiful, fingerprints and dust are noticable.
As far as pricing, the Syd-5 was in the $4-500 range when it came out, but I got it for $250. I've heard the Bose Sounddock (both models), and the Syd-5 outperforms them easily for a (lot)less money. If you don't need portability and if looks and price/performance are important, then you can't do better than the Kanto Syd-5

I bought these speakers for both PC and Xbox 360 use, as well as music and movies.
Build Quality: Excellent. The subwoofer is made of sturdy wood and weighs a ton. The satellites are a perfect balance of hefty quality plastic and being too light. It has a total of three inputs which is nice. The desktop controller allows you to switch between them all. The free rca and pc cables are a thoughtful touch.
Sound Quality: Excellent. Its amazing how clear and how 3D this 2.1 setup seems. I've been playing Bioshock 2 and the little sisters singing are awesome. In Halo Reach I can hear where the enemy is. Music has great clarity as well as punchiness. My wife's favorite part is the late night setting shifts the base from the subwoofer to the satellites.
Price: 260 is what I paid (with shipping), but that was the week they came out. If they were closer to 215 this would be on everyone's desk. Ultimately, I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.

To start off by no means am I a Sound geru. I just wanted a better sounding system in my living room for movies I had a bose lifesyle system prior to this and it was just a waste of money. So I shopped a round at the local stores. With price as a consideration I decided to go the the ct110 theather speakers they are small yet put out termendous sound. The subwoofer works good and trys to make up for having smaller speakers for the most part it does it's job quit well. This speakers work well in a mid to small rooms. I would deff buy them agian IM running a marantz sr5004 reciver and am getting rich warm sound. Over all they look nice, just the right size. and for being one of paradigms budget lower line products they produce amazing sound. Probley can easly compair this to higher end jvc, polk, dennon, etc. I have less invested in this system with reciever and blueray player then I have in my lifestyle system wich is my bedroom now. The sound diff is incredible. Dont be fooled by what you hear in the stores with bose. I swear to you it will not sound that good in your home. The paradigm speakers make watching movies at home fun agian. I hope this helps. But please dont take my word for it. please research your speaker choice before buying them. I did and found nothing but good reviews for this speakers all over the internet. AAA++++ product thanks Paradigm.

Linksys by Cisco Spa8000-G1 8-Port Ip Telephony Gateway Review

Linksys by Cisco Spa8000-G1 8-Port Ip Telephony Gateway
Average Reviews:

I am a fairly technical person that was just starting out with IP telephony. Our startup needed a phone system and didn't have any money to pay for it. So, based on another review here, I downloaded Trixbox CE(a free Open Source IP PBX based upon Asterisk) and installed it on a machine we had laying around. I was very impressed with Trixbox. It allowed me to do everything I needed it to do. I signed up with a SIP provider - [...] and was able to get a SIP based phone number with 3000 minutes for $[...] per month (no taxes).I tried a software based SIP phone and I was actually able to make call from my laptop out through the Trixbox. I was also able to receive them to my laptop through the Trixbox PBX. I then decided that I need to use some old phones that I had lying around to hook up to the Trixbox. This is where the SPA8000 came in. I connected 6 old analog phones lying around the office into the SPA8000 and then configured it to talk to the Trixbox. What do you know? Everything worked flawlessly and it wasn't a pain in to get everything working. So I took 6 old cheap analog phones that I had around the office, an old PC, and invested a little money into the SPA8000 and I have a complete PBX system.I will say that I am an extremely picky person and I was absolutely surprised by how good the sound quality was throughout the system. The key here is that for $[...] a month, I have up to 8 channels coming into our new office and the international rates are ridiculously low.IP telephony is the way to go.... I hate traditional phone companies.

7 Piece Surround Sound Speaker Set for SLS Q-Line Gold Home Theater System Review

7 Piece Surround Sound Speaker Set for SLS Q-Line Gold Home Theater System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Well this is going to be the complete story as I seek to help out some buyers out there. I'm moving to a new condo come August. I'm in need of 3 sound systems. 1 dedicated to music and 2 to movies and games. I already had an acoustimass 10 with a pair of Bose 161 & a martin logan dynamo to complete a 7.2 system running on a Yamaha RXV667. This is to give you an idea of what we are comparing the SLS to. I was eager to get a klipsch quintet set for 500 bucks but wasn't still sure they would do the job. Inept on researching and found in YouTube a video comparing the kipsch speakers to the SLS. I went back to amazon and researched the SLS and got a bargain of 7 speakers at 200 bucks. After watching the video and getting to know all about the materials they were made of, and their size, I decided to give them a try.
I bought an rxv567 to go with them. These are 4 ohm rated speakers and the yamaha is designed to run 6 ohm and up. I even talked tomthe guys at av express who actually sell them and they told me it was safe to drive them with any rxv. I was nervous I would kill the amplifier, so I researched even further and even Martin Logan speakers hat are 4 ohm are safe to drive with a 6 ohm amplifier. You really need to run the amplifier at really loud volumes or through long periods of time
To run any risk.
If you are concerned with size , these have a rather small form factor but they are larger than the Bose 161. Be mindful of your available space for they will not fit everywhere, but still they are not as large a bookshelf.
These speakers come with their own stand or they have an option to hang them on he wall or to place them horizontally or vertically. They also come with speaker wire gauge 16 color coded to each speaker which is nice
They are really sturdy and rather heavy, the center channel is particulary heavy weighting around 9 pounds. The other satellites weight about 7 pounds.
Well as for the most important factor, sound is awesome. It has a very neat balance between high tones and mid bass. High tones are crystal clear and not at all harsh on your ear, however you really need a sub for this speakers. They sound nice on their own but they will never hit low notes unless you help them.
I have only tested them once with the brand new rxv567 set up out of the box I'll let you know my thoughts once I completely set them up in my new condo, sub and all.
They are currently out of stock at av express but I really hope they restock it soon cause I'm going back for more. At 89 dollars a pair you can't go wrong with these. They are just amazing!!!

Yamaha TSX-140 Desktop Audio System with iPod Dock (Brick) Review

Yamaha TSX-140 Desktop Audio System with iPod Dock (Brick)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let me start by saying, I'm a music producer that
enjoys a variety of different genres of music, so
when shopping for a stereo system I need for
the unit to be able to have all genres of music
sounding good.
I tested the unit by bringing my phone (with mp3s)
to the store I bought it from and played a few
songs. I could tell right away this stereo was
REALLY good. If you like way your music sounds on
a Bose, then you'll like the TSX-140. It really
sounds great, whether you're playing pop, easy-
listening and even sounds great when playing dance
music.
In addition to the unit being able to play audio
via AUX, I also wanted a CD player and USB input.
This box does it all!~ So, I was pretty much sold~
I actually paid more than Amazon is selling it for,
but I'd buy it all over again. To me, it's that good.
But don't take my word for it, go have a listen for
yourself~ I think you'll be shocked at the vividness
of the music you've been listening to all this time!

Logitech Harmony 900 Rechargeable Remote with Color Touch Screen Review

Logitech Harmony 900 Rechargeable Remote with Color Touch Screen
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Harmony 900 is VERY similar to the Harmony One, which is a terrific remote. If you don't need the RF capability, I would stick with the Harmony One - It is a much better value.
My Harmony experience: I started with the 880 and upgraded to the One, and now to the 900.
All of these remotes pass the babysitter test - that is, can a babysitter pick up the remote and watch tv. The RF capability (using radio frequency "RF" instead of line of sight infrared "IR") helps the 900 pass the babysitter test with flying colors.
PROS of the 900
1) The remote has a great screen and there are tons of icons available online to take advantage of it.
2) The ability to use RF means that you can set up your system so that the remote does not need to pointed anywhere near the components for them to work. This is especially useful where your "Watch TV" command includes several steps such as turning on a receiver, cable box and tv - miss one of those and you can become very frustrated. The RF prevents this. Three provided blasters (one large and two small) convert the RF signal to IR in your av cabinet. The 900 also can send IR and you can select which devices have signals sent over RF or IR. I have a plasma set on the wall and can't easily put an IR blaster nearby, so I have the plasma set to IR and all of my other components - in a nearby AV rack - set to RF. It works great.
3) All of the other pros you get from the 880 and One are also present in the 900 (except macros - see below).
4) The other obvious difference between the One and the 900 is that the 900 adds a row of four colored hard buttons to correspond to the A B C and D commands on some cable boxes and blue-ray players. To make room, the mute and previous channel buttons are a bit smaller.
5) The IR blasters are great and do NOT need to ever be removed from the cabinet to do updates (as you have to do with some other models). All updates are done on the remote over USB, and the remote then updates the blasters wirelessly.
CONS of the 900
1) By far, the largest con is the inability to simply upgrade from previous models. Upgrading from the 880 to the One took five minutes. You just have to remap a couple of buttons and everything else carries over. Upgrading from the One to the 900 requires you to start from scratch. It forces you to create an entirely new Harmony account. You have to reconfigure all of your devices, all of your activities, and all of your favorite channels. You have to re-teach any custom IR commands. This is fairly inexcusable. I have five devices and four activities. I've been using Harmony remotes for years and have really fine-tuned my set-up. It took me over three hours to get it all back in shape - and I'm probably still not there. So, this is a major flaw I would hope they can fix.
2) The remote can still do customized macros when starting or ending an activity, but you cannot do macros within an activity anymore. That means you cannot have the pause command also mute the sound and bring up the lights. This is not a big deal for me, since I never used macros on my older Harmony remotes, but some people seem to be quite bent out of shape over the removal of this feature. To be clear, you can still do whatever you want when starting or ending an activity.
3) The "slideshow" on the older remotes has been replaced with a sleep timer.
4) The stickers provided to affix the blaster and mini-blasters to your AV cabinet shelves are terrible. You will need to use better double-sided tape.
5) The 900 takes longer to switch between screens than the One or the 880 did. It is as if it is "thinking" about things for a second or two before they happen.
6) The left and right soft keys used to switch between screens are less sensitive than they were on the One, and you cannot adjust the screen touch sensitivity.
7) The 900 gives you the ability to add icons to the soft keys, but - unlike the favorite channels - you cannot use custom icons from the internet. This is a silly limitation and the number of available icons is very limited. In any event, this is still a step up from the One.
8) Favorite channels are still limited to four screens per activity. If you want to have more than that (and many people do) you need to add another watch TV activity. Each activity gets independent favorite channels. I wish this could be expanded. My remote is only using 31 MB of 62 MB of onboard memory, and I would love to have the ability to add many more channels to my favorites.
9) You no longer have the ability to adjust the brightness of the light on the charging cradle, but it isn't very bright and doesn't bother me. The One has a switch on the bottom of the cradle to adjust the brightness.
CONCLUSION
All in all, once configured, I really like the 900. However, I would never upgrade from the One to the 900 unless I really needed the RF functions. If you were to remove the RF function from the 900, I would think the One is a better remote and only costs half as much. That said, the RF function is a great addition and really makes it much easier for others to use. It easily passes the babysitter test. I'm giving it three stars because I think the One gives much better value, and the inability to easily upgrade really irked me. If the One did not exist, or if I had never owned a previous Harmony remote, I would give it 4 1/2 stars.
